Daily Devotion Wednesday June 23

Has your family put the “fun” in dysfunction?  Do you feel like it may not measure up to God’s plan for the family? In honor of this past week being Father’s Day, I’d like to share a few families that did not fit the bill for fully healthy, and yet God used them. He can use our families too!  All week we will talk about the families that just didn’t cut it...just like us. 

​Today’s family is the family of Isaac.  Isaac had twins:  Jacob and Esau. Jacob tricked the older twin Esau into giving him his inheritance (and mom helped in this), so Esau set out to kill him. Jacob ran away to his Uncle Laban.  Uncle Laban tricked Jacob by giving him the less beautiful  daughter to marry after he worked for him for seven years.   Jacob had to work for another seven years to get Rachael, the good-looking sister, as his second wife.　Talk about a lot of trickery!  

I’m sharing this because sometimes we are really hard on ourselves and our families. We think we should have it more together than we do...and maybe we should, but we are not alone.  God loves us anyway and as long as we are moving toward Him and trying to honor Him, we are in a good spot.
