Daily Devotion Wednesday August 25

This week I kind of want to touch on feelings of worth. Jesus died on the cross for our sins and told us that we are not worthless, that we are worth the entire world to Him. A lot of times this is hard for us to grasp.

We are constantly evaluating ourselves and comparing ourselves to not just who we are, but to others. Social media gives us the green light on this. There's not a day that goes by when I honestly do not compare myself to someone else and feelings like this don't just go away in a blink of an eye. I recognize my worth through the eyes of Jesus, but just because I understand and recognize it doesn't mean I fully accept it. This is the greatest battle:  learning to value the truth because it is true. Not because it feels true.

We have all been in that situation where we don't feel good enough. We feel as if we're failing God, failing ourselves, failing our family and friends. And those feelings don’t go away the next day. We feel guilty because we're not good enough or we made a bad decision, but in God's eyes we will always be worthy no matter how we feel. It's hard to let it fully sink in. It is hard to completely accept it. And that is the human in us. But God loves us just the same.
