But you were always a good man of business, Jacob,' faltered Scrooge, who now began to apply this to himself. Business!' cried the Ghost, wringing its hands again. "Mankind was my business; charity, mercy, forbearance, and benevolence, were, all, my business. The deals of my trade were but a drop of water in the comprehensive ocean of my business!”
― Charles Dickens, A Christmas Carol How easy it is to get caught up in the “shoulds” of our lives. In the everyday things that tend to consume our energies of thought and activity. They are necessary things. They are often noble things. We can get caught up in housework and our professional lives. We can get obsessed with all of the chores we have and the routines and errands of our daily life that we forget ONE ANOTHER! I don’t mean that we are full-on neglecting others, but it is so easy to get caught up in the daily stressors and responsibilities that the days and weeks just get past us. Let us remember to always make mankind our business. Let us be Jesus to one another. It may be as simple as sending a text or dropping off a plate of cookies. People are scared and they are lonely. Make humanity your business this Christmas season and you will be spreading the love of Jesus all around. After all, this is what it is all about! - Meghan
