Meet My Friend….Sherry S: 

Sherry S. is a creative type who shares her approachable life hacks as a ministry.  Before Life Hacks were a buzzword, she was sharing them.  As a servant in our church and community, she has stepped up into ministries with great heart and soul and creativity.  

It wasn’t until well into the horrible winter of 2021/2022 that I found out she (and Cindy C.) were not only helping to stock the blessing box on our property, but also were promoting it on social media.  It has since gained some traction and has been refilled by our community and used by those in need in our community which is what it’s meant for.  

Another tidbit I found out was that Sherry would pack up ingredients for a meal and attach the recipe and put it in the blessing box.  This was so the person who came  in need because they had nothing for their children could not only feed them, but feed them well.  When I heard this, I thought of myself when I was a young, single mom and had to feed my son. Sometimes I had most items for  a recipe, but not all, so I had to improvise. It is nice, though, to be able to make a meal as it is supposed to be made.  Sherry has been a part of allowing some families to eat well on a budget. In fact, this is a term she uses often.  Live well on a budget, getting back to basics….these are both statements I hear often from her and she lives it as much as she teaches it. 

Some folks may not realize, but when we needed to fill a spot in the coordinator role for Ruth’s Boutique, Sherry jumped on board enthusiastically. She also was on the team that helped to organize our Bridges Out of Poverty Event and will be helping with the Thrive 10:10 open house later this spring. She is a busy bee who exemplifies what it means to be a servant of God for her community.  Thank you, Sherry S. for all you do.  We appreciate you.
