Daily Devotion Monday August 9

We talk a lot about how to impact our community. Most of us want to make a difference in this world whether it be in a religious or secular construct, but many of us don’t really know how we can…..the need seems so OVERWHELMING.  

This past month, I had the opportunity to partner with a former classmate on an article in the New Pittsburgh Courier.  My classmate, Damon Carr, writes a weekly article on financial well-being and it is circulated far and wide.  Little did we know that the impact made in a finance article would be as great as it was….in at least one person’s life.  Damon received this feedback:  

“Hello, I'm G. J. I'm in federal prison in Morgantown and I read the Courier and your articles. The mind over money article hit different than the others. I have been a firm believer in that and pushed it on my sons, yet I was in the mix with my street life. Being away what will be 5 years when I'm released March 8th has given me the time to focus that thought into myself. Thank you for affirming that  -G. J 

This feedback is evident that though Damon is not in ministry, he is ministering.  We have to be willing to meet people where they are and the mindset that they are in.  I’m certain that G. Jones intends fully to start over in earnest.  The information he got from the article gave him some tools to do so.  

This is proof that we can make a difference no matter what it is we do.   Think about your gifts and abilities.  They are given to you to bless  and teach others.  No one expected to get this kind of feedback from a finance article, but it happened. Open up your awareness of where you can make impact, and you will!
