I do not want you to be unaware, brothers and sisters that I planned many times to come to you (but have been prevented from doing so until now) in order that I might have a harvest among you, just as I have had among the other Gentiles. ~Romans 1:13
Sometimes we want to do something, plan for it, and attempt to follow through, but something keeps preventing it from happening. It’s even more frustrating when that ‘something’ is good and godly, and seems to be a no-brainer that God would want it to happen. Why would God allow our plans to get thwarted, especially when we think it’s what God would want?
Thankfully God sees the bigger picture and knows better about what should happen. Maybe the timing is off, our understanding is limited, or sometimes it requires the action of someone who is unwilling, and the situation has to wait for someone who is willing to do something to change it. When we find ourselves frustrated, don’t give up or become discouraged. God’s purpose always prevails. We must trust God’s timing and wisdom.
Prayer: God, when I get frustrated with my circumstances that do not seem to budge, help me to surrender my ideas for yours, my timing for yours, and my purposes for yours. Help me not to be the roadblock to your purposes in my life or someone else’s. Amen.
For I am not ashamed of the gospel, because it is the power of God that brings salvation to everyone who believes: first to the Jew, then to the Gentile. For in the gospel the righteousness of God is revealed—a righteousness that is by faith from first to last, just as it is written: “The righteous will live by faith.” ~Romans 1:16-17
